Roster cuts

It's time. The Roster cuts have been made an now we're down to the final 53 on each roster. NFL.com has a complete list of the roster cuts, but I'll just quickly run through them with you to pick out some of the more notable (in my largely biased opinion): Arizona Cardinals: QB Matt Leinart, FB Charles Scott (watch list) Atlanta Falcons: RB Dimitri Nance, FB Dan Klecko, Baltimore Ravens: CB Travis Fisher, K Shayne Graham, QB Troy Smith, WR Demetrius Williams, Buffalo Bills: QB Levi Brown, RB Joique Bell, RB Chad Simpson, Carolina Panthers: QB Hunter Cantwell, DL Corvey Irvin, DB Brian Witherspoon, Chicago Bears: QB Dan LeFevour, Cincinnati Bengals: WR Dezmon Briscoe (watch list), G Otis Hudson, Cleveland Browns: WR Bobby Engram, CB Brandon McDonald, QB Brett Ratliff, DB Larry Asante, DB Chris Chancellor, Dallas Cowboys: OG Travis Bright, LB Steve Octavien, Denver Broncos: DL Jarvis Green, TE Kory Sperry, OL Seth Olsen, Detroit Lions: DB Dre Bly, LB Caleb Campbell, K Steven Hauschka, Green Bay Packers: QB Graham Harrell, LB Cyril Obiozor, Houston Texans: CB Jacques Reeves, QB John David Booty, Indianapolis Colts: QB Tom Brandstater (yes, they're going with Painter), WR Brandon James, WR Blair White, Jacksonville Jaguars: TE Ernest Wilford, Kansas City Chiefs: QB Tyler Palko, Miami Dolphins: QB Pat White, Minnesota Vikings: WR Javon Walker, WR Marquis Hamilton, New England Patriots: WR Sam Aiken, LB Derrick Burgess, WR Darnell Jenkins, QB Zac Robinson, New Orleans Saints: RB Ladell Betts, DE Bobby McCray, QB Patrick Ramsey, DT Kendrick Clancy, OL Terrence Metcalf, FB Zak Keasey, New York Giants: QB Rhett Bomar (???), New York Jets: FB Jason Davis, Oakland Raiders: QB Colt Brennan, Philadelphia Eagles: S Quintin Demps, TE Cornelius Ingram, WR Kelley Washington, DE Eric Moncur, DT Jeff Owens (watch list), Pittsburgh Steelers: C Justin Hartwig, St. Louis Rams: CB Quincy Butler, LB Bobby Carpenter, QB Keith Null, WR Danario Alexander (watch list), San Diego Chargers: QB Jonathan Crompton, WR Josh Reed, CB Nathan Vasher, SS Quinton Teal, C-G Jeff Hansen, San Francisco 49ers: WR Jason Hill, RB/FB Michael Robsinson, FB Brit Miller, Seattle Seahawks: WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, DT Amon Gordon, WR Brandon Jones, QB J.P. Losman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: WR Michael Clayton, QB Jevan Snead, Tennessee Titans: DE Raheem Brock, RB Samkon Gado, CB Tye Hill, RB Alvin Pearman, S Myron Rolle, QB Chris Simms, DE Chris Harrington, Washington Redskins: RB Willie Parker, OT Selvish Capers, S Tyrone Carter, C/G Eric Cook, So there we have it. In all something in the region of 700 players have been dumped on the scrap heap, but it's not over yet. Those on rosters should not be counting their chickens before they've hatched. The Cardinals for example my very well decide to head out and get themselves an experienced QB dumped by another team. Same with the Panthers. The Rams may be looking for more help at the receiver position and thus could be on the hunt for either an extra receiver or a receiver who they feel is an upgrade over what they have. For those that aren't immediately snapped up off waivers, all is not lost. Brit Miller has been on and off the 49ers practice squad ever since he came out of college. The Rams are likely expecting nobody to take a chance on the injured Danario Alexander, thus allowing them to slip him onto their practice squad while he recovers from injury. And of course, future injuries mean future opportunities for the players out there in limbo right now. Far from the end for many of these guys, it is the beginning of a very long and bumpy journey. Till next time, Have a great day everyone.
